Wiki Reflection

The piece produced was a wiki page where students would visit to view announcements, assignments and homework on a regular basis. Challenges faced in creating piece was decorating and producing appropriate assignments for the grade 4 students. Proper research and Google assisted in over coming those challenges. The piece could be improved by creating the page to be more attractive.

Wiki's a wonderful tools that can be used to improve classroom discussion by increasing communication among staff and students while working along with them. An advantage of using wiki? It is free and it provides unlimited storage for teaching materials such as videos, pdf's and presentations. It also helps to minimize the use of paper, pens and other teaching stationery. 

Reflection on Movie Maker

The piece produced was a video of the stages of the butterfly and the different parts of the butterfly. This piece will be used as a revision for the butterfly's life cycle and also an introduction to knowing and labeling the different parts of the butterfly. Challenges faced in creating the piece was the organization and fading in and out the music inserted in the piece. The video could have been improved by inserting a video showing the different types of butterflies especially those we see in Antigua.

How Videos Can Improve Classroom Instruction

Using videos in the classroom can help with the understanding of how students learn. It also facilitates in helping to study and learn. Another way it can improve classroom instruction is by accommodating students who may be slow by providing the information since it is a permanent record and it can be viewed more than once.

My Intentions of Utilizing Blogs in the Classroom

Blogging is an awesome technology that can be used for learning. I would utilize blogs in the classroom since they allow the boundaries of the learning environment to be extended outside of the physical classroom setting. In the classroom contact time is limited, however, blogs provide adequate time for students to formulate and express their thoughts in their own convenient setting. As a result, students can take time to constructively critique the view points expressed by other students on these blogs. Hence, they will become highly motivated about their learning from the use of this technology. Assignments, handouts and notices can be uploaded, decreasing the misuse of stationery. As an educator, the quality of my instructions will be greatly enhanced as students misconceptions or concerns can be addressed immediately.
